Eintracht and lily supporters engage in mass brawls

Supporters of SV Darmstadt and Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed to a mass brawl and thereby triggered a large police operation. The dispute extended to the Autobahn.

Rand 240 supporters of the football clubs SV Darmstadt 98 and Eintracht Frankfurt had a wild brawl on Sunday night. According to the police, the two groups met on Autobahn 5 in Weiterstadt in southern Hesse to attack each other. The brawl spread from the Loop 5 shopping center to the freeway. According to “hessenschau”, some people were on the hard shoulder, triggering numerous emergency calls from concerned drivers. The police arrived with 15 patrol cars. When they arrived, those involved fled on foot and by car. The officers seized batons, batting gloves, boxing gloves and pepper spray, among other things.

The police controlled more than 30 people. Many of them were injured in the face and hands, it said. 40 cars were also found damaged and stained with blood. According to the information, the supporters of the clubs had arranged to meet for the mass brawl. Half of the participants were divided between the clubs. The thugs, who, according to the police, had traveled from the Rhine-Main area and southwest Germany, must expect criminal proceedings for serious breaches of the peace and dangerous bodily harm.
