DTM – Rast wins at Lausitzring – Sport

At the German Touring Car Masters, Audi driver René Rast continued to catch up with his fellow brand colleague Nico Müller, who was leading in the overall standings. Six days after his success at the Lausitzring, the man from Minden celebrated his second win of the season in the fifth race on the longer circuit in Brandenburg on Saturday. Müller finished second in an exciting three-way battle ahead of the Dutchman Robin Frijns.

With the triple success of the Ingolstadt team, Audi won for the twelfth time in a row across all seasons. DTM champion Rast is now 33 points behind Müller (121 points) with 88 points. Frijns is third with 74 points.

Müller, who started the race from pole position, had to relinquish the lead to Frijns after the mandatory stop and slipped back to fifth place. Instead, Rast, who had dropped from second to fifth at the start, crept closer and closer to Frijns over the course of the laps and overtook the Dutchman on lap 27. Shortly afterwards, Müller was also able to distance Frijns and secure second place. The sixth DTM round will take place again on Sunday at the Lausitzring (1.30 p.m. / Sat 1).
