Dean Henderson: Goalkeeper won’t extend loan deal at Sheffield United

Henderson was the Blades’ first goalkeeper during his two loan seasons

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has confirmed he won’t be extending his loan with Sheffield United for a third season.

The 23-year-old made 86 appearances for the Blades after joining in 2018 and helped them advance to the Premier League in his first year.

Last season they finished ninth in the top division with Henderson, the goalkeeper of choice.

He wrote on social media saying he “couldn’t wait for the next chapter”.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Sheffield United for the past two years.

“Winning promotion to the Premier League with my brothers and having the season we had this season will never be forgotten.

“I want to thank the manager, my teammates, the staff in the back room and of course the fans who were amazing towards me.

“I will look back on the last two years as an important chapter in my career and most of all I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and develop with such a class group of guys.”

Henderson has been with Manchester United since he was 14 and was called up for the first time in England in October 2019.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in June Henderson would “eventually end up number one in England and Manchester United”.

Earlier this week Sheffield United had accepted a £ 18.5m bid for Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
