Cowboys Won’t Chase Earl Thomas?

The cowboys were linked with Count Thomas For years, but “nothing” is brewing on this front, says a source Mike Florio from PFT. Thomas is of course newly available after his release from the ravens.

The Cowboys tried to get Thomas away from the Seahawks two years ago when he was embroiled in a contract dispute with the team. Meanwhile, Thomas added fuel to the fire by repeatedly expressing his love for the cowboys. The multiple pro bowler bowed to the Dallas bank after an interception, interrupted plans to watch the cowboys on television, and provided the press with additional information about his interest on the reverse channels.

Ultimately, these trade talks were not fruitful. Last year the Cowboys were pat when Thomas made the rounds of the agency, but that probably had more to do with his price than anything else.

In the past, the Cowboys have been willing to take risks for red flag players, but Thomas’s rocky year with Baltimore may have tarnished their interest. It’s also possible that after adding it, the cowboys will finally be happy with their security situation Ha Ha Clinton-Dix earlier in the off-season.

If Thomas is looking for his next opportunity, his staff will likely fight the ravens. The Ravens’ official announcement of the release quoted “personal conduct that has adversely affected the team”. As Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter shortcut) notes that the wording indicates that the ravens will come to Thomas for money.
