Coming from a small school is not the reason Fine was not recruited. He has a fairly strong arm and is also quite mobile, able to create with his legs. The problem the NFL teams had with him was his size. Clear and simple. At 5’9, he’s tiny by NFL quarterback standards. Pockets tend to swallow it up and this has led to lingering issues with happy feet.
The best comparison here is that he’s a poor version of Russell Wilson. Not quite the athlete and not quite the arm and a little shorter. However, the kid is a player who has taken his team off fire several times in four years. He’ll likely start off as a guy on the practice squad who can make his way onto the main roster.
Beyond that? His talent is enough to start on Sunday, but only if he has a coach who can get around his obvious weaknesses.
