Potential Champions League opponents explained
With the season now over and dusted off, Chelsea can start looking forward to the 2020/21 campaign and other Champions League football.
The Blues will enter the group stage straight after securing a spot in the top four in the Premier League, albeit slightly later than they would have hoped for.
And now they have a better idea of who they might face when competition resumes next season – and it looks complicated.
Frank Lampard’s side will be placed in Pot 2, which means they will face at least one of Europe’s big hitters, including a potential reunion with Bayern Munich.

Granovskaia was right about Pasalic’s departure
Mario Pasalic’s goal certainly attracted attention as he gave Atalanta a shocking advantage over PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday.
But if things had turned out differently, perhaps he would not have gone for the Bergamo club, and instead he could still have been a Chelsea player.
His contribution led Rio Ferdinand in particular to question the decision of the Blues to do without the Croatian.
But despite the success in Italy, Marina Granovskaia was avenged by allowing him to leave Stamford Bridge.

The weaknesses that need to be addressed
Lampard’s first season at the helm of Chelsea must be seen as a success, but that’s not to say there aren’t some obvious weaknesses that need to be addressed.
Given his inability to bring in new signings last summer, the former midfielder was rightly praised for bringing the Blues back into the top four.

But the flaws were exposed throughout the season, especially towards the end when they suffered defeat in the FA Cup final before limping out of Europe.
As Lampard said after the Champions League defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich: “It won’t be overnight and we know where we are.”
