Brett Favre tries to tear up the Green Bay Packers

Legendary Packers quarterback Brett Favre tries to oust Aaron Rodgers.

The Green Bay Packers franchise leader in passing yards (61,655), TDs (442), interceptions (286) and wins (160), 11 times Pro Bowler, three times All-Pro, three times MVP NFL and Super Bowl Champion. It all describes quarterback Brett Favre when he wore green and gold as the face of the Packers.

Now he wears a golden jacket as an inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Although he is still widely regarded as the best quarterback to have graced Wisconsin, his reputation has dropped significantly during the offseason.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Brett Favre received a wave of nostalgia when Green Bay made a controversial trade, trading for the No.26 overall selection to take on the Utah State quarterback, Jordan Love.

On that selection, Favre reflected on the 2005 draft when the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers from Cal at No.24 overall when Favre was 36 – the same age Rodgers will enter the 2020 season.

While the organization seems to be keen on leaving Rodgers, they’ve made it clear that Rodgers will remain their starter for a long time. With the media already frantic over the mind-boggling decision to pick Love, Favre decided it was his turn to take stock of the situation.

Brett Favre only fractures the Packers with his entry into the offseason.

It was the moment he had been waiting for since hearing Rodgers’ name announced in 2005. In an interview, Favre stirred the pot by sharing his thoughts on the move, saying he could see Rodgers leaving Green Bay in a close future. On top of all this, Brett Favre went even further, saying he “would love to see Aaron Rodgers on the bears” in a media interview, per NBC Sports.

From his comments, it’s clear he doesn’t care about Green Bay. He just wants to create chaos for his old team after deciding to leave him by placing their trust in a younger player.

What’s so disheartening is that Favre just needs the attention. He wants to ruin what the Packers have because he’s still upset about the transition from him as a starter to Rodgers. The difference in these two situations, however, is that they actually intend to keep Rodgers rather than forcing Favre out of town.

With Love’s current status, he won’t even be able to compete for the starting position for a few more years, based on head coach Matt LaFleur’s comments on the rookie.

In the 2004 NFL season, Favre finished with a 10-6 record after completing 346 passes on 540 attempts (64.1 percent) for 4,088 yards, 30 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He would end the year with an early playoff exit after losing 30-17 to the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round.

By comparison, Aaron Rodgers finished 13-3 in the 2019 season after completing 353 passes on 569 attempts (62.0%) for 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns and four interceptions with a rookie head coach. He and his teammates would make it to the NFC Championship game, losing in a gruesome 37-20 clash against the San Fransisco 49ers.

While they were both the same age in the season, the Packers drafted their future successor, Rodgers stats don’t tell the whole story as he has dealt with lackluster playmakers and an all-new offensive plan, leading to “average statistics” in 2019. He has shown no sign of slowing down as he can still throw the ball 40 yards with a flick of the wrist. This leads to the greatest contrast between the two situations: the difference in perspectives.

When Rodgers was drafted he had the talent to take on the starting role right away, but could still use a few years of development regarding his mindset and emotions when it came to the starting position.

In contrast, Jordan Love, while he has incredible raw talent, is just that: Raw. He will need many seasons to really develop and become the quarterback LaFleur needs for his game-action offense. During this time, he will be able to learn from a guy who not only has seen and done it all, but also throws and plays in the same way as his own style.

Mentally, Rodgers is not like Favre who will run away and ignore his future successor. The way Favre treated Rodgers when he entered the league is something Rodgers will be sure to avoid. He may not be thrilled with the situation, but he understands that, from an organizational standpoint, the team is simply securing their future.

He knows he will start for the remainder of his contract which will last until the 2023 season. At the age of 40, the team will make an executive decision based on Love and Rodgers’ status to decide where to go. . When it comes to Favre, he’s nothing more than someone who just wants to create havoc due to their own arrogance and selfishness.

As a former die-hard fan of the original Gunslinger, it’s embarrassing even to have his name in the same sentence as the Green Bay Packers. He’s no hero and he surely doesn’t have a say in what Aaron Rodgers does in his career.
