Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone fears losing star players Thomas Partey and Jan Oblak this summer, according to reports.

The 27-year-old Partey has been strongly linked to the move to Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season.

The Ghana international is believed to be excited about a move to the North London club, but the Gunners may need to raise funds to afford his € 50m (£ 45m) release clause.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is looking for a new goalkeeper to replace faltering Kepa Arrizabalaga following a string of high-profile mistakes last season.

Oblak has been proposed as a possible replacement, however, Atletico are demanding that his € 120m (£ 108m) buy-out clause be fully paid.

The Blues have already gone wild on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with a move for Kai Havertz in the works.

Second ESPN, Simeone fears that Partey and Oblak will leave Wanda Metropolitano if the interested parties manage to comply with their respective termination clauses.

However, their position could be changed by a substantial money offer or a fair exchange of players.

If Partey moved to Arsenal, he would change a club that plays regularly in the Champions League to one that has not been competing since the 2016/17 season.

The midfielder’s national team coach, CK Akonnor, advised him to stay with Atletico for the sake of his career.

‘Honestly, I wouldn’t want him to move to Arsenal because he will always play in the Champions League with Atletico. His position is guaranteed and he will always play, ”Akonnor told Starr FM.

‘With Arsenal, I’m not too sure. Arsenal fans will kill me [for saying he should not join the Gunners].

“I hope so, and I’m sure money problems will come, but I hope that whatever he asks, Atletico will be able to pay.”
