Asdrubal Cabrera (2B, 3B, WSH) – Week 6 Wireless Pickup

BALLER MOVEMENT: Add 12+ team leagues

OWNED IN: 33% of the leagues

ANALYSIS: Veteran infelder Asdrubal Cabrera shows no signs of slowing down in his 34-year season, finding himself the clean-up hitter of world champion Washington Nationals. A .266 / .330 / .544 cut line and five home runs in 21 games isn’t particularly eye-catching, but his 16 RBI so far actually ranks 4th out of all second bases. Only six seconds on base have scored more home runs than Cabrera. Cabrera has been a model of consistency throughout his career having played at least 130 games in each of the past nine years.

Since 2011, Cabrera has averaged 18 homers, 70 runs and 70 RBI and has a career batting average of .268. So everything he’s doing this year is on par with what he’s been doing every year for the past decade. With so many anomalies and injuries this year, having someone you can just plug into your training and don’t worry is a pretty significant plus. Cabrera is also eligible in two internal seats and has played eight games at first base, so he has also been eligible for that position in some leagues (or will get it in the next few days if not). Cabrera is an ideal corner or midfielder in leagues of 12+ teams and should be chosen for his versatility of stance and steady production alone.
