Arsenal will make the transfer decision as the midfielder’s agent has been spotted at London Colney

Arsenal’s summer transfer business begins to take shape ahead of the new Premier League season.

There has already been a new arrival at Emirates Stadium with Willian coming free after his contract with London rivals Chelsea expires.

Meanwhile, the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Houssem Aouar, Thomas Partey and Phillippe Coutinho continue to be linked with the moves before the day’s deadline in early October.

That said, there may also be a string of releases this summer as manager Mikel Arteta looks to reshape his squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

Among those who have decided to leave is the forgotten midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The Egyptian international spent last season on loan at Besiktas and took to Twitter earlier this week to confirm that he will not join the Turkish squad permanently.

“Yesterday was my last day in Istanbul and the fans were very excited by the amount of love I witnessed”, he wrote. “Besiktas fans: I was really touched and will always be grateful. Management and teammates: a memorable season with a superb finish with qualifying for CL.

“Thanks for all.

Elneny is now expected to report for preseason training with the Gunners, but it doesn’t appear to be part of Arteta’s long-term plans and has been linked to a return to Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, according to Goal.

Interestingly, a decision on Elneny’s future may be imminent.

As noted by the Arsenal fan @OsmanZtheGooner on Twitter, the midfielder’s agent, Alan Nazmy, arrived at London Colney Thursday and may have been there for transfer talks.

This happens a few days after it was reported that Nazmy had traveled to Istanbul between ties with Trabzonspor and Galatasaray for another one-season loan for Elneny.

However, Gilberto Silva recently stated that he considers Elneny the natural successor to himself and former captain Patrick Vieira.

“In recent years the situation has been difficult at Arsenal. They have very similar players in midfield, with profiles that look alike and not really players from Patrick Vieira’s profile, or even my profile,” the Brazilian told Francia Calcio. according to Get Football News France.

“The only individual who looked like (us) could have been Mohamed Elneny, but he didn’t play.

“But they didn’t really have that kind of players to fill the defensive midfield position.

“Arsenal always play positively, trying to play an offensive game, and it is not easy to find someone to marry with the ability to play forward and to do the job in the shadows in the defensive phases.”
