Arsenal “only possible solution” for the ace of La Liga

Philippe Coutinho’s career is at a crossroads.

Signed by Barcelona with great fanfare in 2018, costing the Spanish club 142 million pounds, it’s fair to say it didn’t work out.

He has made 76 club appearances, scoring 21 goals and logging 11 assists, but doesn’t seem to fit the way they play.

Coutinho, the attacking midfielder for his entire tenure at Anfield, played primarily as a left winger at Camp Nou and, such were his performances, he was allowed to leave on loan last summer.

He moved on to Bayern Munich, where he spent the entire campaign, playing 35 times, scoring nine goals and recording eight assists.

However, it does not appear that the German club wants him to stay, and Sport Witness brings a report from Sport insisting that he will leave.

He doesn’t want to stay, and Barca don’t really want him, which means they need to find a suitor this summer.

With Bayern seemingly disinterested, the report says Arsenal are in the running to sign the Brazilian international.

And now the Gunners are said to be “the only possible solution” for Coutinho’s future. It is valued at £ 50.4 million by Transfermarkt.

A move on loan to the Emirates could be on the cards, with Arsenal looking to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s side; would lower Barca’s salary, which means the North London club may have to raise his salary if they get him.

Harry Sherlock from GIVEMESPORT says …

This must be a priority for the Gunners.

They simply haven’t been able to get the best out of Mesut Ozil this season and he hasn’t played at all after the lockout.

As a result, finding a new director should be high on Arteta’s wish list and Coutinho definitely fits the bill.

He has a lot of Premier League experience from his time at Liverpool and is a safe pair of hands on the ball; he rarely gives in and can cut through defenses with his precise pass.

With Barcelona so anxious to get rid of him and him so anxious to leave, it seems the Gunners will never have a better opportunity to take him in.

They need to make it happen.
