FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE fans were stunned by the news that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is now listed as the game’s midfielder.
The popular competition was relaunched today for the 2020-21 campaign, with a number of notable positional shuffles.
And the most infamous to date is certainly that of the Gunners talisman, who will now be placed in the same category as his teammate Granit Xhaka … despite scoring 22 Premier League goals last season.
Following the announcement of the FPL, some fans took to social media to express their displeasure.
One wrote: “Aubameyang’s move is simply disconcerting. Yes, he sometimes plays a 3 wide front (keyword – front) but he also plays in the center as an out and out striker.”
While another added: “Games now full of midfielders and no forwards”.
A third said: “Aubameyang is literally a striker”.
And a fourth asked: “What a joke. What world are the Aubameyang and Greenwood midfielders in?”

United youngster Mason Greenwood is another to have had his controversial stance changed.
The teenager, as well as Marcus Rashford, Gabriel Martinelli and Diogo Jota will now be listed as the father of midfielders and strikers.
And even the likes of Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling remain “midfielders” in the eyes of fantasy football fanatics.
