Arnaud De Lie sprints to bronze medal at the European Championship for juniors | European cycling championships

It is a fertile day for the Belgian juniors at the European Championships in Plouay. After the two medals for the women this morning, Arnaud De Lie (18) has now also won bronze in a millimeter sprint.

Earlier today, Marith Vanhove and Katrijn De Clercq won silver and bronze respectively in the female juniors. Their good example was also followed with the men.

Arnaud De Lie managed to win the fifth medal for Belgium in a race with epic weather conditions. He sprinted for the victory together with the Dane Andersen and the Czech Bettner.

It was a real millimeter sprint. They crossed the line all three next to each other. According to the photo finish, our 18-year-old fellow countryman came third. The gold went to Andersen, Bettner got silver. Last year De Lie was already crowned Belgian junior champion.

Course with many attack attempts

During the 109.2 km race, the peloton broke into pieces several times due to the many attack attempts. Belgians Robin Orins and Alec Segaert also showed up.

Cian Uijtdebroeks fell at the beginning of the match, but was able to connect again afterwards. In the final there was another thunderstorm, but the riders did not care.
