Arenas reigns again in madness

Moto3 racing has become a question, first, of survival and then of management, two aspects in which the leader of the general classification, Albert Arenas, is especially shining. Of the five races played so far, he has won three wins, the last this Sunday, and a second place, with the only failure of the second Jerez test.

In Austria the race peloton was as long or even longer than in the previous tests, although this time it hardly broke: the first fifteen crossed the finish line separated by just over two and a half seconds, which would leave an average of about 170 thousandths between each position. Ridiculous. This equality, obviously, increased the risks of incidents, and allowed unusual pilots to roam the positions of honor, although in the end the experience left the fight to the strongest. And above all, this year Arenas stands out, who signed a fantastic last lap: he recovered three positions in Turn 3, he got behind Jaume Masiá, who was trying to open a hole in the circuit in which he became known in Moto3 , and took the lead to take the victory by 49 thousandths of a second.

“It was not easy, but I really enjoyed the last lap,” Arenas confessed after a victory that increased his advantage to 28 points over McPhee, third in Austria after the penalty to Ogura (he lost a position for exceeding the limits of the track). «It was hard, there have been many touches. I am very happy with how I managed the race, I was going without expectations, trying to defend my position, going to the limit. And I was able to do very well on the last lap, “acknowledged Arenas. Also satisfied, Masiá finished, who had not been on the podium since the penultimate round of 2019.
