Alaphilippe in yellow on the Tour de France: “I always want more”

Julian Alaphilippe will take the start on Tuesday of the fourth stage of the Tour de France with the yellow jersey on his shoulders again.

How did you get through this day in yellow?

JULIAN ALAPHILIPPE. Good. I had good legs despite a difficult night with emotion. I didn’t do much, but the day went well with the team controlling well. I was proud to see it ride and to see myself in yellow after two stages.

Do you feel the same emotion as last year?

No. It’s always a special feeling to wear this jersey, but it’s really different from last year. I am relieved and much more relaxed to have won on Sunday. Wearing the jersey is a different emotion every day, but each time it is a source of pride and honor. I hope this will push me further.

How far do you plan to defend this jersey?

I will do everything to keep it for one more day, then it will be just a bonus. I looked at the profile of Tuesday’s stage but I haven’t studied it well yet. In the end, it’s the legs that will speak and nothing else.

Is it possible to remain the leader as far as Paris?

I continue to take the race day by day. The alpine stages, I recognized them and I know that it will be really difficult to stay in yellow until Paris.

Have you already passed your Tour de France or do you want more?

I always want more.
