A dream from the past (daily newspaper Junge Welt)

There were no surprises in the upcoming second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 at the weekend. Olympique Lyon, Manchester City, FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich followed the already qualified Paris Saint Germain, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo and RB Leipzig into the quarter-finals. The day after tomorrow, with the match between the Lombards and PSG, the final tournament in beautiful Lisbon will start without a second leg. It is due to the circumstances, but it would be nice if the final phase would always be decided this way in the future – but then again in front of an audience, please. It would be even better if only the masters took part again as before and the tiresome VAR, the so-called assistant referee, disappeared in the annals of history. You can’t have everything, but dreaming is allowed.

World champion France is still represented with two teams, as well as Spain and Germany. What does that tell us? …
