2020 World Snooker Championship: Mark Selby criticizes “disrespectful” Ronnie O’Sullivan after losing in the semi-finals

Defeated semi-finalist Mark Selby prevailed over Ronnie O’Sullivan, calling ‘The Rocket’ performance at Friday’s World Snooker Championship as “disrespectful”.

O’Sullivan celebrated a dramatic final win over Selby, securing his spot in the final this weekend against Kyren Wilson, who also won the final on Friday when he defeated Anthony McGill to reach the most prestigious match at the Crucible for the first time .

Five-time world champion O’Sullivan followed Selby 16-14 but won two frames in quick succession and then made a tense decision to make his seventh final in Sheffield, but Selby was comfortable with the way ‘The Rocket’ played, not satisfied.

“I haven’t really had a chance for the last three frames,” said Selby.

“During the game, I felt that the way he played was a little disrespectful.

“Every time I put him in a snooker, he just came down and hit the balls 100 mph and they could have gone anywhere.”

O’Sullivan, meanwhile, had friendlier words about his opponent after the game.

He told that BBC: “For three days I’ve only been looking for a cue action where I can hit the ball halfway straight – I’m watching it [Selby] Cue up and he’s got the perfect setup and start trying to make the score look respectable.

“But part of my game wasn’t great. If I find the cue action, I’ll enjoy the finale. Cue action first and everything else is a bonus. “

The best of 35 finals will be played on Saturday and Sunday, and fans will return to the Sheffield Melting Pot to test the crowd at sporting events as part of the government’s pilot program.
