From the “Bubble” of the NBA in Florida, basketball superstar LeBron James interfered in the full blown US election campaign. His message is clear.

Basketball superstar LeBron James actually needs his full concentration for the finals of his Los Angeles Lakers. The best team in the Western Conference lost their first playoff game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday with a surprising 93-100. But in view of the full election campaign in the USA with the Democratic nomination convention, the 35-year-old took the time to appeal to his compatriots.

“We are in a time when we need change. In order for there to be changes, there needs to be leadership, and leadership begins at the top,” said James in an interview with Vice magazine’s TV channel.

More Than A Vote is not just about getting the people in our community to actually vote; it also gives them the knowledge and the power and the mechanism to know that they can bring about change, “explained the professional basketball player.” We hear that over and over again in the black community that we want change.

Blacks have been lied to for so many years by telling them they can’t and they can’t because they are just the dregs. “Change starts at the top when it comes to leadership,” James continued. “But it will continue beyond November into December and into 2021.”
