Ziyech ‘looks forward’ to Chelsea’s debut after the first training session

The Moroccan international began his career in Chelsea with a training session at the club’s Cobham facility

Chelsea’s new boy Hakim Ziyech is anticipating his debut game at Stamford Bridge after his first training session at the club facility on Saturday.

Ziyech arrived in London for his new adventure with the Blues after signing a five-year deal for Ajax which was reportedly around £ 40 million.

The Moroccan international was greeted in Cobham by former goalkeeper Petr Cech for his first club training program, while the rest of his new teammates traveled to Sheffield for Saturday’s Premier League game.

Frank Lampard’s side were beaten 3-0 on Bramall Lane while David McGoldrick’s doubles and Oli McBurnie’s solitary goal gave them their second defeat in their last six league games.

Although Ziyech is not expected to play for Chelsea until next season, Ziyech described his feelings after Saturday’s light training session.

“First session made for Chelsea. Very excited and happy to be here and I can’t wait to see you soon at the Bridge, “he wrote on Instagram.

This season, Ziyech has been involved in 24 goals before leaving Ajax, which includes a total of eight goals and 16 assists in all competitions.

The 27-year-old’s last competitive game was against Heerenveen on March 7 before the Dutch Eredivisie was declared void due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After agreeing to join Chelsea in February, the three-time Ajax Player of the Year claimed that the Blues’ offensive playing style influenced his decision to move to England.

“Happy, proud, I’m excited and I can’t wait. It (Chelsea) is a great club in a big competition, “said Ziyech.

“I like the style of play, they really play attacking football, and that’s something that suits me and that’s one of the biggest reasons I chose, therefore.”

Chelsea are third in the Premier League standings and are pushing hard to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
