With the caddy still sick, Justin Thomas has Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay loop in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Lt. – For the second consecutive tournament, Justin Thomas will need a replacement caddy after his regular looper, Jimmy Johnson, has fallen ill.

About halfway through the third round at Memorial two weeks ago, Johnson left the pitch after becoming light due to the intense heat. He was replaced for the remainder of the event by Thomas’s father, Mike.

Last Wednesday, Thomas’ father was back on the bag and Thomas confirmed to Golf Channel that he will have Jim “Bones” Mackay in the bag this week at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and next week at the PGA championship.

Johnson has returned home and said via SMS that he plans to get tested on Thursday.

Mackay recently returned to work after working for NBC Sports / Golf Channel as a field analyst. He spent two weeks in Matthew Fitzpatrick’s bag and the Englishman finished the T-27 at the Workday Charity Open and the third at the Memorial.
