Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says Dalvin Cook told him he would show up at camp

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook told coach Mike Zimmer he would show up at training camp on Tuesday, Zimmer said on a conference call on Saturday.

Cook is expected to earn $ 1.3 million in 2020. In June, Cook’s camp announced he would hold out until he received a “reasonable” contract extension. A new deal for the running back has yet to be struck.

Zimmer was on a conference call to discuss his new three-year extension. Viking veterans are due to show up on Tuesday.

New wording in the NFL collective agreement would hamper Cook if he failed to report on the due date or within the grace period given to players at the start of camp. According to the CBA, Cook would not receive an accumulated season for free will and would become a restricted free agent if he did not show up to camp on time.

Cook’s 1,654 yards from the scrum last season was the NFL’s most important ninth.
