US Open 2011 champion Stosur announces that his partner has given birth

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) – Sam Stosur, the champion of the US Open 2011, is now a mother.

“Life as a whole during coronavirus has been a challenge in many respects, but personally it has been one of the most exciting and happy times of my life,” wrote Stosur.

He continued: ” It was a turbulent period, but we could not imagine life without her now. ”

In addition to claiming the Grand Slam single title by beating Serena Williams in New York over the past nine years ago, Stosur was runner-up at the French Open in 2010 and a semi-finalist at Roland Garros three times.

In the doubles, Stosur was classified no. 1 and won three Grand Slam trophies, most recently at the 2019 Australian Open.

In singles, she was ranked number 4 and is currently 97th after losing the first round in five of the last six Grand Slam tournaments.
