UFC Mike Perry Talks About Nate Diaz’s Fight: “I Would Put It”

If you enjoyed his UFC in ESPN 12 win, Mike Perry thinks you would love a fight between him and Nate Diaz.

In an interview with ESPN on Tuesday, Perry (14-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) was asked about a possible matchup against Diaz (20-12 MMA, 18-11 UFC). While Perry said he respected what Diaz did in this sport, he didn’t seem impressed by the ex-UFC lightweight challenger’s skills.

“I think he’s thin, weak, small (explosive) like Mickey Gall,” said Perry. “I respect what he did in this sport. He plays the guard game Jiu-Jitsu and (explicitly). He thinks he can box with (these) little punches with weak asses he has – little punches with salt and pepper. He doesn’t have a chance to hit me hard enough. “

Perry analyzed a matchup against Diaz and said he would emulate a game plan similar to Jorge Masvidal, which was implemented at UFC 244 in November. In the first (and so far only) “BMF” title fight in UFC history, Masvidal defeated Diaz by TKO due to cuts.

“I’d hit him on the feet (just like Jorge Masvidal),” said Perry. “I would play his watch. I would get half a watch (and) sit on it. To be honest, it would look exactly like the Mickey Gall. If you enjoyed this fight, you will probably like Nate Diaz’s fight because it is a little more durable. He’ll probably try standing there and boxing back with me, but my strokes are simple – I would sit him down. “

Diaz hasn’t participated since UFC 244. Diaz has been booked three times since August 2016, but has only participated twice. Fights against Diaz are hard to come by.

As the winner of three of his last four, Diaz has remained largely calm since losing to Masvidal and has occasionally tuned in to talk about trash on Twitter.

With his UFC victory at ESPN 12, Perry had a duel loss. He is 3-3 in his last six fights since July 2018.
