More on Eric Dier’s new deal

British international Eric Dier has agreed on a new four-year contract to keep him at Tottenham until 2024.

The 26-year-old has scored 11 times in 239 appearances for Spurs since joining Sporting Lisbon in 2014.

“I am really happy to continue here and engage in this new journey,” he told Spurs TV.

“It’s crazy to think I’ve been here for six years. I loved it. It is a fantastic place to stay. “

Dier, who recently played the central defender after making the name of defensive midfielder, arrived in White Hart Lane in the same summer as ex manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He helped the North London club finish second in the Premier League during the 2016-17 campaign and last season’s Champions League final.

“The club has given me my opportunity in England and has given me so much since then,” he said.

“We had a good time together, but I want to have even better times and I still feel that there are many things I need to reach here before it ends.”

Dier, who has made 23 appearances since Jose Mourinho took over as Pochettino as manager in November, is looking forward to raising the silverware with Spurs.

“My goals are very clear, I want to be one of the best in my position in the Premier League and this was one of the reasons why I wanted to stay here and commit to my future here,” he said.

“My clear goal – and I think the manager’s clear goal – is to try and win trophies for this club.

“I feel with the manager, his record and his mentality to win trophies, it was a huge thing for me. When the day comes to leave this club, I want to leave knowing that I have. “
