Trainer Hyballa and technical director Van den Abbeele leave NAC Breda | NOW

In the run-up to the new season, NAC Breda is suddenly without a trainer and technical director. The Kitchen Champion Division club said goodbye to Peter Hyballa and Tom van den Abbeele on Friday.

Hyballa and Van den Abbeele were at odds with each other last month. In an interview with BN DeStem, Hyballa cracked down Van den Abbeele’s purchase policy in firm terms. “NAC is not a society or shelter. NAC has to perform.”

General manager Mattijs Manders does not want to confirm that Hyballa and Van den Abbeele should leave as a result. He just wants to say that there is a difference of opinion with both parties and that there is no confidence in further cooperation.

“The upcoming season will be very important for the future of NAC. On the eve of this, we need to have full confidence in every part of the organization. As a result, we have had to make this difficult decision in the interest of NAC,” said Manders.

After the statements by Hyballa, Manders indicated that he is going to have a meal with him, but that he will not fire him. “Sacking is a rather unorthodox and ultimate measure. You make that decision carefully. That is not an issue at all. We are going to solve this internally, as adult guys together.”

Hyballa coached NAC for only seven games

Hyballa, who previously worked for NEC in the Netherlands, was appointed as trainer of NAC in February, succeeding the dismissed Ruud Brood. He coached the Brabanders only seven games before the season ended in the Kitchen Champion Division in March because of the corona crisis.

Van den Abbeele, who previously worked as a scout at PSV, was the technical director since April last year. NAC hopes to present a new trainer and technical director soon. The name of Alfons Groenendijk is already singing around in the Rat Verlegh Stadium.

NAC still had a chance of promotion to the Eredivisie. The team was one of the period champions to participate in the play-offs. The club also reached the semi-finals of the TOTO KNVB Cup tournament, in which they lost 7-1 without a chance on a visit to Feyenoord.

NAC has had turbulent times in the past six months. In April, Luuc Eisenga left as general manager because of a difference of opinion with the supervisory board (supervisory board). Manders came over as chairman of the Eredivisie CV (ECV) last month.
