The sports world is sad. Tony Martin, a 19-year-old American athletic talent, was shot dead. The tragedy occurred on Sunday at a gas station in the competitor’s hometown of Saginaw, Michigan.
According to the local media, the background to the crime is unclear, and the investigation is still ongoing. The police are also working with a version according to which the young athlete, whose long-distance maximum was 807 cm and also excelled in sprints of 60 and 200 meters, accidentally got into a shootout.
Martin’s athletic colleagues also express their deepest condolences to the family. “He was a great guy, he never had a problem,” Martin’s coach Eddie Sanders was quoted as saying by the Detroit Free Press.
