Those around the NBA skeptical Knicks are actually conducting open coaching research

The New York Knicks don’t have a manager yet but this is expected to change within the next few weeks.

According to several reports, new team president Leon Rose points to an active man by July 31.

Rose and her team are expected to conclude the first round of virtual interviews on Monday or Tuesday, then select the best candidates for another round, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

And yes, it seems Tom Thibodeau remains at the forefront.

“Thibodeau has long been considered the favorite as a former AAC client and people across the league have expressed skepticism that it is indeed an open research rather than a simple information gathering exercise,” wrote Bondy. “Rose, however, presented it as completeness and due diligence.”

Other important names related to the Knicks: Mike Woodson, Mike Brown, Kenny Atkinson, Jason Kidd and the current interim man Mike Miller. There are many others, but those are mostly assistants who seem to be long shots in all directions.

As Bondy suggested, many people across the league seem to think that Thibodeau’s job is to be lost.

For Bondy, executive vice president William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley, GM Scott Perry and great strategist Brock Aller I conducted the interviews for the Knicks.
