The Rochester golf tradition spreads among the concerns of the coronavirus – KTTC

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Like many other things this year, the 40th annual Tri-Club golf tournament has hardly happened. But, with a few tweaks, the long tradition of the Rochester golf community was able to begin on Monday.

“We weren’t able to start the shotgun, so we started with tee times starting at 8 this morning, we are all in separate carts, keeping our distance, we are unable to meet at the end for a group dinner or a photo, “said golfer Jane Barton.

The 10-year event brings together dozens of women representing three golf courses around Rochester.

The women wore blue, green or red to represent the course they were playing for, Soldiers Field, Northern Hills and Eastwood respectively.

“Dee Smith and Julie Hanson were the ones who started [the tournament]”said golfer Sharon Kostohrz.” They were the founders of the women’s club in the North and therefore wanted to put together something to entertain all the clubs on a golf day because not all of them are members of all three courses. “

It was a whole day of camaraderie and some competition.

“The time has come just for us to get together and I think we are really proud of the fact that we are here with everything we have to do this year,” said Barton.

“The friends we’ve made over the years and everyone just wants to play and see each other because many people don’t see each other during the winter months,” said Kostohrz. “So it was great and the fact that Jeff this year [Gorman, Eastwood golf pro] and the MGA [Minnesota Golf Association] we were able to work with us to set the rules so that we could participate in a big event like this because we have 60 women playing in this. “

The winning team takes home the travel plaque and earns the bragging rights for next year.
