The NBA debuted with a new announcement with Issa Rae ahead of its Disney restart

Basketball finally came back on Wednesday afternoon. While the 8-game stretch in the NBA 2020 playoffs doesn’t start until next week, the teams will square off against each other in a series of scrimmages as players try to get back in shape after a four-month layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First of all, the league is debuting a new advertisement with Issa Rae. In it, Rae heads into an empty arena, repeats the old adage “don’t miss something until it’s gone” and offers fans a reminder of some of the most exciting moments that have occurred in the league this season before of the suspension.

“Fortunately the wait is over,” says Rae. “Because it’s all back … well, with a slight twist.”

Once we pass the next week of scrimmages, the league will restart on July 30th. Things will shift with an inclination between Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans (which may not have the services of Zion Williamson) at 6:30 pm EST, followed by a meeting of the two Los Angeles teams at 9:00 pm. Both games will be broadcast on TNT. From there, the teams will be in the midst of an all-out sprint towards the playoffs, which are slated to kick off August 17th.
