Timo Werner wants to be “part of a new era” at Chelsea. In a video interview, which the Premier League club published on its website on Tuesday evening, the German international also explained his motives for the departure of RB Leipzig and the move to the island. Werner especially highlighted his new trainer Frank Lampard.
The former professional was the main reason for his change. Werner explained that they had talked a lot about things like the system, how he wanted to see him play, and how the system suited him. “He knows me a little better now and it really fits very well between us,” said Werner: “I’m happy that I’m here now.”
Before his contract with the Leipzig team expired, Werner switched to the blues in the English capital. RB is said to have received a transfer fee of around 53 million euros for the 24-year-old striker.
