Yesterday Steph Curry used his golf shoes to honor the late Breonna Taylor at the American Century Championship.

Held in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, the three-time NBA champion hit the green during the celebrity golf tournament in a two-tone Under Armor custom golf shoe set with a painted image of Breonna Taylor above the words ” Say Her Name “On the right shoe. On the left foot, the name of the late EMT was repeated on the toe with a Black Lives Matter hashtag added to the midsole.

Taylor was shot eight times and killed on March 13 when three officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department entered his apartment in Louisville. The agents used a direct search warrant as part of a drug investigation, however no drugs were found in Taylor’s apartment. Since then Taylor’s family has filed a legal action for death against the three officers and has also joined hundreds of thousands of people protesting their arrest.

Curry is one of many athletes who have talked about Taylor’s death and the death of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. Floyd was killed on May 25 in Minneapolis by white police officer Derek Chauvin, who knelt on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes during an arrest. Arbery was shot and killed on February 23 in Glynn County, Georgia, by Travis McMichael and his father Gregory.

These three murders sparked riots across the country when citizens, celebrities and others pushed the fight against racial injustice and police brutality. Curry himself showed his activism by attending protests and events organized in Oakland, California, and taking social media to encourage change through his 30.8 million followers on Instagram.
