Spin? His mistake made us lose points

The 2020 Formula 1 World Championship has just begun, but after the Austrian GP in home Ferrari it is already time for clashes. While the random and unexpected second place obtained in the Spielberg race by Charles Leclerc on the one hand has calmed the controversy over a much slower SF1000 than the 2019 SF90, on the other it has sharpened the differences between the team principal Mattia Binotto and the other Cavallino rider Sebastian Vettel protagonists of a remote squabble that started already with the declarations in the respective press conferences that anticipated the Red Bull Ring race and set themselves on fire at the end of the Spielberg race. And if it is true that the four-time world champion and the Cavallino will separate at the end of this season (Carlos Sainz jr will come in his place in Red), it is also true that the two will have to work together for the good of the Maranello team to the whole World Cup just started.

Sebastian Vettel attacks Ferrari: “Glad to have made only one spin”

In the post-race, in fact, Sebastian Vettel attributed the blame to Ferrari and Binotto for the spin that actually compromised his race closed then in 10th place (out of 11 cars arriving at the finish): “Glad I only turned around once – declared the German after the arrival – because it was a difficult race. The car was very difficult to drive. My race was eventually ruined by that episode: Sainz moved inside, I was pulling away to the limit and I lost the rear. Unfortunately it happened that he lost it a few times – urged the four-time world champion -, that’s why I say I am satisfied to have turned around only once“.

Binotto’s answer: “He was wrong, he made us lose important points”

The response of the team principal Mattia Binotto that has further raised the tones of the distance dispute: “With him (Vettel, ed) we lost points, when Red Bull didn’t make it – the number one debuted at the Ferrari wall -. We had to maximize and instead Sebastian made a mistake. He says the car was not well balanced – concluded angrily –? When this happens a driver tends to make mistakes, the fact remains that it could have been done better“.
