Reinhold Messner, a terrific mountain climber who shows what’s possible. He once said: “I learn when I fail, not when I succeed.”
A formative experience?
For a long time it was the Olympic Games in Munich. It has been the ski championships of Bavarian employment agencies and job centers for ten years.
In which discipline would you be an Olympic champion?
In foil fencing, a combination of concentration, stamina, coordination and sophistication.
Which athlete would you like to swap your jersey with?
I actually like to live with myself. If so, then with the winner of the first Senior World Athletics Championships in 1975, who won the 100 m run of his age group at 91.
