Sausage operated after crash in Swiss MTB race | Cyclocross

Cyclo-cross rider Annemarie Worst had an operation today in the hospital of Herentals after a crash yesterday during a mountain bike race in Leukerbad, Switzerland. She announced that on social media.

During the fall in Leukerbad, Worst tore off some tendons near the collarbone. Emergency services quickly arrived and Worst was taken to hospital by helicopter. Today she was operated on in the AZ in Herentals.

“Unfortunately I suffered my first major injury in my cycling career today,” Worst writes on her Instagram page. “I fell during the mountain bike race in Leukerbad yesterday. I just woke up after surgery, now it is time to recover!”

The crash disrupts Worst’s preparation for the new cyclocross season. Last season Worst was the winner of the World Cup. However, she could not conquer a sweater this year. She took silver at the World Cup and the NK, bronze at the European Championship.
