Real Madrid sells Achraf to Inter

Achraf Hakimi will play the next five seasons in the Inter de Milan. Real Madrid and the Italian club have announced the agreement for the transfer of the white youth squad to the ‘neroazzurro’ team by 40 million euros plus five in variables. The footballer, who already underwent medical examination for his new team on Tuesday, signs until June 30, 2025.

The operation, cooked in recent days, will make Antonio Conte available to one of the fashionable sides in Europe. Formed in the lower categories of Real Madrid, the 21-year-old Moroccan international has confirmed himself as one of the rising values of international football during the two campaigns he has spent on loan at Borussia Dortmund, a club in which he has excelled with his speed, overflow and arrival in the rival area.

The great progression of the footballer in the two courses that he has passed under the command of Lucien Favre, in which scored 12 goals in 73 games and he demonstrated his versatility by working on both sides and even playing at times as wingers, made him an object of desire for clubs such as PSG or Bayern Munich. Also the entity of the Rhur expressed its desire to continue counting on the services of the player born in Madrid but of Moroccan parents, selection with which he played the World Cup in Russia, but finally it was Inter who took his pass.

Real Madrid was very satisfied with the evolution of Achraf, whom Zinedine Zidane added to the first team in the 2017-2018 academic year, after having him at his command in Castilla. In the ‘white house’ they were considering recovering him this summer, once his two-year loan to Borussia Dortmund has been completed, but the right-back wanted to play an important role, something that Real Madrid could not assure him in a demarcation of which Dani Carvajal has been absolute owner since his return from the Bundesliga in the summer of 2013.

Zidane had already hinted in his appearance before the media on Wednesday that the right-hander’s departure was imminent. “Hakimi is a player of ours but everything can happen here,” admitted the Marseillaise. “He has had a good season and in this club there are two things: the economic and the sports part,” he added.

Right of first refusal

Real Madrid, who has thanked Achraf for “all these years of dedication, professionalism and exemplary behavior” since joining La Fábrica in 2006 and wished him “good luck in his new stage”, has reserved a right of first refusal on the side during the five seasons he has signed with Inter, so he could get it back if he matched the offer of another team interested in his services.

A way to keep track of a player who already left good feelings last season but has finished exploding in the current one, consecrating himself with outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and in the Champions, where he signed a double against Slavia in Prague and another against Inter in the group stage that seduced Antonio Conte. The transalpine coach, a devotee of 5-3-2, will be impressed by the verticality of the Spanish-Moroccan, who has already demonstrated his virtues for this scheme in Dortmund.

The sale of Achraf, which will receive some five million euros net in its first year at Inter, open the door at the turn of Álvaro Odriozola, on loan at Bayern Munich, given that Carvajal has not had a replacement since the Basque loan to the Bavarian entity took place.
