PARIS (AP) – Kylian Mbappe could miss the Paris Saint-Germain Champions League quarter-finals against Atalanta after being barred for about three weeks to recover from an ankle ligament injury.
The diagnosis came two and a half weeks before the PSG had to face Atalanta in Lisbon on August 12, when the competition will resume after its forced break from the pandemic.
Mbappe was injured on Friday in the second half of PSG’s 1-0 victory over Saint-Etienne in the French Cup final.
“The imaging work done today confirms ankle sprain with external ligament injury,” PSG said in a statement. “Following this trauma, recovery time is estimated at around 3 weeks.”
21-year-old Mbappe has scored 30 goals in 34 appearances this season
