Manuel Neuer was assured by Oliver Kahn that despite the arrival of highly rated Alexander Nubel at the Allianz Arena he will remain FC Bayern Munich’s number 1 next season.

The legendary former goalkeeper said on the official website of the Bundesliga: “I talked to Alexander Nubel a little.
“It is a very big step to switch to Bayern. I experienced that as a player.
“The first thing is to acclimatize, settle here and get to know your teammates and the coaching team, and then you have to try to gain a foothold – but it’s a gradual thing.
“He told himself that this is a medium-term challenge for him. That means he accepts that it could take a year or two to replace Manuel Neuer, who is absolutely number 1 at the moment.
“Last season you could see how his numerous important saves helped us to win the Bundesliga for the eighth time in a row.”
Neuer had seen Bavaria’s move questioned as a result of an agreement concluded for Nubel.
However, he ended this speculation by signing new terms by summer 2023.
The 34-year-old apparently still has no desire to step aside, since Neuer has been a model of stability throughout his time at Bayern.
In nine memorable years, he played 383 games and played a leading role in 20 trophy victories – including eight Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown in 2013.
Hansi Flick has already stated that he wants to continue to trust Neuer in the future. The Bayern boss said: “Manuel Neuer is clearly our number 1 and nothing will change in the coming season. Alexander Nubel knows that. “
