Nationals’ Carter Kieboom: appetizer not really daily

Manager Dave Martinez said after Saturday’s show game that both Kieboom and Asdrubal Cabrera will play third base this season, reports Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post.

The skipper was therefore asked a follow-up question on Kieboom as an appetizer, but reiterated that both players will see the time at the hot corner. Martinez said early summer of training that Kieboom should have been the daily appetizer to third base this season, but it was Cabrera who received the start of the first show competition. Kieboom made his Major League debut last season and fought in 11 games with a .128 / .209 / .282 cut line and 16 strikeouts in 43 plate appearances, and he appears to have a ticket for some form of matchup-based platoon to start 2020.
