It’s finally official. After long negotiations, Victor Osimhen is no longer a Lille player. The Nigerian striker officially joined Napoli on Friday, the two clubs announced in the afternoon. According to L’Equipe, the transaction amounted to 81.3 million euros, guaranteed bonus included. The player has signed a five-year contract with the Italian team.

Arrived from Charleroi last summer against 14 million euros, Victor Osimhen shone during his only season in Lille, scoring 13 goals in Ligue 1, until the end of the championship in March. In all competitions, the Nigerian has scored 18 goals with the northern club. He joined the seventh in the Italian championship, winner of the Italian Cup against Juventus Turin.

A larger transfer than Nicolas Pépé

“Le Losc is proud to have counted in its ranks a player and a man like Victor Osimhen, who demonstrated in the Lille jersey as much talent and ambition as humility and professionalism. The club thanks him for all the emotions offered under his colors and is satisfied to have been able to support his progress and participate in his development at the highest level ”, welcomes Lille in its press release.

With this transfer for more than 80 million euros, the center forward becomes the most expensive Ligue 1 player sold abroad. He is ahead of another former Lille, Nicolas Pépé, who left for Arsenal last year against 80 million euros. Lille could look again to Belgium to replace their striker. According to La Voix du Nord, the fourth of the last exercise is preparing an offer of 30 million euros for the Canadian striker of La Gantoise, Jonathan David.
