LPGA: the Classic Marathon will take place behind closed doors – News feed – American tour

The organizers of the Classic Marathon (LPGA) announced Thursday that the tournament would be held behind closed doors. However, tournament officials had previously stated that the competition could not afford to take place without fans. Finally, the LPGA and the organizers decided that the tournament would take place from August 6 to 9 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club, in Sylvania (Ohio), without fans on the course. The tournament is expected to be the second LPGA Tour event to take place this year since competition stopped in February due to coronavirus. This announcement is not the first of its kind in the state of Ohio. The PGA Tour had planned to have a limited number of supporters at this week’s Memorial Tournament in Dublin, but the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state made it too risky.
