Ligue 2: a Niort player arrested in full training

Very unusual scene this Saturday morning during the training of Chamois Niortais (Ligue 2). Shortly before 11 am, while the group was training behind closed doors under the guidance of their new coach Sébastien Desabre, who replaced Franck Passi a few weeks ago, police entered the lawn to… arrest a player. He was handcuffed and put in the police car. The police had previously visited his home, but they had not found him. So they went to get him at the René-Gaillard stadium.

It would be central defender Ibrahima Conté, 24. Trained in Lorient, he arrived in Niort in 2018 and remains on a white season due to a double operation on the left knee.

According to information from France 3 Poitou-Charentes, a complaint had been filed by her partner for acts of domestic violence. The player was placed in police custody at the Niort police station and will be heard during the day.

In a statement, the management of the Niort club confirmed “the arrest of one of its players this morning by the police in the context of a private affair”. “No comments will be made at this time,” added the club.
