Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was named NFL’s No.1 player as NFL Network released the top 10 in its 100-player countdown on Wednesday night.
The rankings for “Top 100 Players of 2020” were determined by votes from NFL players. This year, NFL Films collected 970 ballots and interviewed 132 players, according to the league.
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas rounded out the top five.
This is the seventh time in the show’s 10-season history that a quarterback has won first place in the countdown. Previous quarterbacks to be ranked No.1 were: Tom Brady (2011, 2017 & 2018), Aaron Rodgers (2012), Peyton Manning (2014) and Cam Newton (2016). Donald was the best player of the last year.

Jackson, who wasn’t even ranked on the “Top 100 Players of 2019” list, earned unanimous NFL MVP honors while leading the Ravens to a league-best 14-2. In his first season as a full-time starter, he threw for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns, improving his rookie numbers to 1,201 yards and six touchdowns. A dynamic double-threat quarterback, Jackson broke Michael Vick’s record for rushing yards in a single season, finishing with 1,206 yards while adding seven rushing touchdowns.
