Jürgen Klopp has to repeat the transfer trick, but Liverpool deserves more respect

The Premier League Trophy Lift was excellently carried out by Liverpool. What did you make of it

I think the club did its best and the ceremony was perfect for the players and staff. It was incredibly emotional to see what maybe says everything that needs to be said.

It couldn’t have been better without fans in the stadium and a parade.

Dejan Lovren is no longer a Liverpool player. How do you remember him?

He had his ups and downs as a Liverpool player, but Dejan Lovren should be remembered as a hero.

His dramatic goal against Borussia Dortmund in Anfield will never be forgotten, and of course he is part of the team that won our sixth European Cup and eventually brought home the Premier League Cup.

To what extent has the Croatian exit made Liverpool more urgent to sign someone, be it a defense lawyer or someone else?

I think it is a bit early to expect that one of Ki-Jana Hoever or Sepp van den Berg takes a big step forward, so I would like to see the Reds sign an experienced player.

Think of Ragnar Klavan, but a center that is able to survive at the highest level and would cost next to nothing. Apart from replacing outgoing players, I think it would be wise to use a left-back and a center forward.

Adam Lallana also leaves. His interview after he left was emotional. How much will the reds miss him?

Liverpool will hardly feel Adam Lallana’s exit on the field – but it will be a completely different story.

The midfielder was loved by everyone and regarded as a high-ranking personality in the team. Fortunately, the squad is staffed by key figures such as Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner, so we can continue without any real problems.

Jordan Henderson won the FWA POTY Award, much to the disgust of many opposing fans. Why is he such a divisive figure?

I think those who don’t see Jordan Henderson every week are fighting over what he does for this Liverpool team.

He is probably not world class in anything, but he is very good in everything and consistently uses 110 percent – there is a reason why he is respected by everyone he works with.

I think he is the best captain in the Premier League and invaluable for Jürgen Klopp.

Who was your Liverpool player of the year? There are so many to choose from …

There are probably 10 players that could fit in this group and they would all be worthy – like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson – but I think I would give Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It’s like having Kevin de Bruyne as a right-back. It’s incredible to believe that if he consistently sets crosses that David Beckham would have been proud of, he is a 21-year-old boy from West Derby.

He is very rarely less than flawless up and down and I am so glad that he is on our team.

Any other business?

I’ve had a lack of respect for our players lately.

I think some people who see Liverpool get a little spoiled – players like Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino seem to do more than most because they don’t score 15 goals a season or flog rainbow blows like Neymar.

These players have a job to do in our squad and they do it very well – they are critical to our game and they require more respect than what they get.
