Jason La Canfora, former name of Washington Redskins

WASHINGTON – There are reports that some important news may come Thursday from the Washington NFL team that will not cast a positive image on a team that has been the subject of controversy for its old name and logo in the framework for social justice reform in the United States.

“The distorted and toxic culture of the Washington football team is on the verge of being disgustingly exposed,” CBS Sports reporter Jason La Canfora tweeted on Tuesday.

WUSA9 has not confirmed exactly what La Canfora is referring to, but it has been a tumultuous week for the organization.

The franchise announced Monday morning that it has officially removed the controversial team name and logo. The Washington NFL team has been using the nickname since 1933. This comes after the team launched a “thorough review” of the name on July 3.

Dan Snyder, who has always insisted that the nickname should not be changed, turned the tide after he was put under pressure amid calls for changes in social justice in the United States brought about by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
