  • Last Sunday James Rodriguez was not on the Real Madrid team
  • Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has not revealed why Rodriguez has not traveled
  • The Colombian has made just 14 appearances for LaLiga leaders this season
  • Premier League Man Utd, Arsenal, Everton and Wolves are all interested

James Rodriguez has alerted potential suitors, including Manchester United, after refusing to travel with the Real Madrid team for Sunday’s game against Athletic Bilbao.

Sergio Ramos’ late penalty gave Laiga Madrid leaders all three points, but Rodriguez was missing from Zinedine Zidane’s team at San Memes.

The 28-year-old has been linked to a departure from the club, having played only 14 games in all competitions this season, and Zidane confirmed after Sunday’s game that it was Rodriguez’s decision not to travel.

“He wanted to be left out for his reasons,” said Zidane after Sunday’s game.

“The reasons are between us and I will never tell you again.”

Responding to statements about the couple’s downfall, Rodriguez himself said on Colombian television: “There have never been any problems [with Zidane]. Each coach has his own tastes.

‘We have a normal working relationship. It doesn’t seem fair to me that a person disrespected himself for not choosing a player. ”

In addition to moving to United, Rodriguez was also associated with a move to Everton and a potential meeting with coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Arsenal and the Wolves are also said to be observing a £ 22m move.

Rodriguez had an unconvincing two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich from 2017 to 2019 after being frozen by Zidane’s plans in Madrid.

This season, he lost two months in the back of 2019 due to a knee injury resumed in international service and was also sidelined with a hip problem for a short time.

His contract expired in June 2021 and is therefore eager to leave the club this summer as he was unable to establish himself in Zidane’s second term in office.
