Caroline Wozniacki recently retired from tennis, having played her last professional game at the 2020 Australian Open. Her stature in Denmark, however, remains enormous. She became the only Danish player to have won a Grand Slam when she defeated Simona Halep in the 2018 Australian Open final. She also reached world ranking no. 1 in his career. Caroline Wozniacki is a great player and a great person – Holger Rune
The rise of the Danish player, Holger Rune, spoke of his influence. The young man, aged 17, won the French Junior Open last year. He also participated in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS). UTS is a league started by Patrick Mouratoglou. His inaugural season, which ended last week, was a huge success.
Rune entered the event to replace Matteo Berrettini and played Corentin Moutet. The seventeen year old showed great maturity but lost in a hard fought game. After the game, Rune sat down for a press conference and told Wozniacki’s EsseniallySports.

Rune claimed that Wozniacki was a great player and a model for all Danish tennis players. Wozniacki turned 30 last week and on the same day, Rune played his first game at the UTS. He thought it was a shame not to be able to win on his birthday.
“I think it’s great. She’s a great player and a great person. She won a great slam that I don’t think any Danish player won, so I think it’s nice to have her as a model for tennis in Denmark. And now she stopped and was playing a lot well until retirement. So that’s great. Unfortunately I couldn’t win today, so it would have been a better birthday for her. “
Wozniacki had lost a couple of finals before winning a very tough final against Halep. And from then on, his victory inspired young players like Rune.
