Hamburger SV has now adopted the two previous assistant coaches Dirk Bremser and Tobias Schweinsteiger after missing the Bundesliga promotion. Hannes Drews has joined the team of the new head coach Daniel Thioune, who will succeed Dieter Hecking from VfL Osnabrück at HSV.The 38-year-old Drews comes from the HSV regional league team, which he has been in charge of since 2019. He gained second division experience as head coach at FC Erzgebirge Aue (2017 to 2018).
Farewell to Bremser, 54, and Schweinsteiger, 38, had been expected after the Hecking out. Brakeman is the constant assistant Heckings, who is now in discussion as the new sports director at 1. Schweinsteiger, brother of world champion Bastian Schweinsteiger, is considered a possible candidate for the coaching position with the third division team of his former club FC Bayern Munich if their successful coach Sebastian Hoeneß leaves the club.
