Here’s what we know about the “bombshell” story that Washington’s NFL team is supposed to rock

Changing the name of Washington’s NFL team may not be the biggest story the organization is making this week. Cryptic tweets from local and national NFL authors suggest that something much bigger could be on the horizon, and now the sports world is waiting to see exactly what it could be.

Reports surfaced on Sunday evening. Nothing directly explained what was going on in the pipeline except that it was “not pretty” or “disappointing and sad”.

The reason for the lack of details is currently unknown. However, there are indications that the impending report is related to the layoffs of Pro Personnel director Alex Santos and the deputy director of Pro Personnel Richard Mann II. Both men were part of the organization for a long period. Santos was hired in 2005 and Mann II in 2009.

While the football team went through a shift in the front office in December after the dismissal of team president Bruce Allen, front office positions like Santos and Mann II are usually not affected by a change of coach. All signs indicate that this is a new scandal, the nature of which is currently unclear.

This would not be the first time that a report of this kind has shaken the organization. In 2018, the New York Times announced that during the 2013 season, the team had used cheerleaders as “personal companions” for a trip to Costa Rica to entertain suite owners and key team sponsors. The report found that cheerleaders were not expected to have sex with the men on the trip, but were forced and felt “pimped” when asked to participate in a topless photo shoot for the men. The team examined the report internally, but avoided any retaliation from the NFL.

The new report appears to be something bigger than the 2018 story, and we’ll continue to update this article as more information becomes available.
