Hansi Flick hands the FC Bayern double trophies over to the club museum. The coach reveals what he now expects from the team and how he plans with Leroy Sané. He canceled Niklas Süle’s vacation.
MThe last dates before vacation were due on day. The FC Bayern players met for sponsorship campaigns in Munich, and their trainer Hans-Dieter “Hansi” Flick brought the trophies they had recently won to the club museum in the Munich stadium.
When handing over the championship trophy and DFB Cup, Flick announced the final of the Champions League as the goal. In the club, they dream of crowning the Corona season by winning the third title.
“I’m looking forward to being able to prepare for the next goal with the team after the holiday – that is of course the final of the Champions League,” said Flick.
His team is now about to take a short two-week break.
“One-act games are not that easy”
The premier class is due to end in tournament form due to the pandemic in Lisbon in August. Exceptionally, quarter-finals and semi-finals will also be played in one game each. “We know that such one-act games are not that easy. You have to be on point, ”says Flick.
The final is set to rise on August 23. After a 3-0 win in the first leg against Chelsea, Bayern still have to successfully contest the round of 16 second leg against the London club before they can take part in the tournament. Given the shape of the Munich under Flick no one has any doubt that this will succeed.
“The players now have time to take a deep breath, to recover mentally and to release new energy,” said Flick after a break after eleven wins in eleven competitive games after the Corona compulsory break.
A special summer for Süle
National player Niklas Süle, unlike his teammates, does not get a vacation. The 24-year-old central defender should use the next two weeks to catch up with the training deficit after his cruciate ligament rupture until preparation for the Champions League begins.
“Niklas is not free. He also wanted to train himself, I think that’s good. He has some catching up to do, ”said Flick, who sees Süle“ on a very good path ”.
The defender was part of the squad for the first time in 4-2 in the DFB Cup final against Bayer Leverkusen, but was not yet used again in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. “The ten days he can train now are good for him in terms of the start of the preparation phase for the Champions League. There he is, I think, one step further, ”said Flick.
In two weeks after the holiday, Leroy Sané from Manchester City, Alexander Nübel (FC Schalke 04) and Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi (Paris Saint-Germain) will join the team. “It is conceivable that they start with cyber training, are integrated and sometimes have a little sniff into the whole structure,” said the trainer.
For the end of the premier class in August at a tournament in Portugal, the coach wants to form a special Champions League squad. The entrants will not belong to this group because they cannot be used to continue the competition.
