Goalkeeper is plucked from bank during rest to quarantine Remarkable

In the first half, Portuguese goalkeeper André Moreira was still on the bench, but in the second half he was gone. He had to leave the stadium to quarantine. “At half-time, the player was asked to leave the premises on the basis of a decision by the national health authority and the doctor,” said the Portuguese association.

Moreira missed the previous game against FC Porto on July 5 after Belenenses’ third goalkeeper, Joao Monteiro, had tested positive for the corona virus. According to the Portuguese press, Monteiro and Moreira shared a room and Moreira therefore had only a week ago contact with the infected Monteiro.

On 8, 9 and 10 July, Moreira took a negative test after which he received the green light from the pro league and Belenenses to be included in the selection for Saturday’s match. Eventually they were called back, but that only happened during the game.
